Update to the Address List Segregation Tool…

I know that I have not completed the set of articles in this series, but a couple of readers have brought to my attention a bug in the Address Segregation tool – that when run under some installations the tool reports an error when trying to read the registry.

I have to admit that this did not happened within my test lab, but it did happen when I tried it in one of my production environments – so I have updated the code to fix (or work around) the bug.

For those of you whom are just tuning in the Segregation tool was discussed in this article (which is the first of four): http://telnetport25.wordpress.com/2008/06/04/exchange-2007-service-pack1-and-address-list-segregation-part-1-getting-started/

Below is the updated version (the link in the old article has also been updated)

Seg-SETUP-1

The setup of the tool is identical to the instructions given in the original article above – however the is one small difference – when running the “Start.exe” program – you will then be asked to provide the “FULL” path to your Exchange BIN folder – typically this will be:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Bin\ – (the trailing slash is important)

Therefore when you run the “Start.exe” program you will be prompted with a dialog:

SegUpdt

Here you will need to provide the path as suggested above.

I would like to thank both Christian and Simon for letting me know about the issues – I will be posting the remaining articles very soon – thanks for bearing with me.

  3. Hi Andy, I love your work. I really needed some help with the scripts cos they’re not my cup of tea. However when i run your program, i get an error. I’ve tried it in two fresh environments with the same result. running Server 2008, Exchange 2007 Sp1.
once the error shows, the application does come up, however the settings in “Exchange Server Options” do not seem to have been gathered. (apart from “Domain Controller”
